Solihull Central Library and Arts Complex remodeling involved the internal alterations and refurbishment of the Lower Ground and First Floor areas, whilst the library and theatre remained open to the public. The refurbishment works consisted of:-
Lower Ground Floor – Undertaking demolitions, formation of internal rooms including M&E services and all new finishes to floors, walls and ceilings.
Ground Floor – Complete demolition of catering kitchen and existing offices. Formation of new commercial kitchen, new offices, toilets and shower facilities including all finishes and replacement of library carpets during Christmas close down.
First Floor – Complete demolition including forming opening in slab for new contractor designed staircase, handrails and balustrades. Formation of new theatre bar area and offices together with creatives learning zone for exhibitions.
The project was undertaken over 6 phases requiring detailed planning to maintain the use of the library and particularly the theatre during pantomime season. Completion was achieved on time and within budget.
